More photos will be posted by the weekend. I will also have a VHS video tape available to SERIOUS BUYERS as soon as my new battery for the camera arrives.
First let me thank everyone who called the last time this car was listed. I had told many of you that the car was sold as I was dumb enough to believe the guy who wasted my time over a two week period. That said let me once again describe the car.Above Added: Thu March 13, 2008, 9:09 am EST
I've owned this car since 1973. It was originally owned by Bill Luckey, who in partnership with Austin Coil, campaigned this car under the "Mr Lucky" banner at various dragstrips throughout the Midwest. Bill is one of the finest chassis builders ever to be based in Chicago and Austin, as John Force's crew chief, has racked up numerous world championships. When studied today, this car reveals what talent these guys had back in the early sixties, when ingeniuty, instead of cubic money, won races. Some of its unique features are:
1. When viewed from the rear, you'll notice the rear fenders have been bowed out to accomadate a wider tire without cutting the original wheel wells.
2. The right side suspension features a second leaf spring which preloads the right rear, planting it solidly when launching. I've pulled two foot wheelstands with this car on a regular bases.
3. The rear end featured a 1964 Pontiac posi which I managed to destroy when I took the car out last fall after a twenty five year hibernation. I've replaced it with a new spool, which along with the Summers Brothers axles, should make it pretty much bulletproof.
4. The current powerplant is a replacement DZ Z-28 engine which I've owned for over thirty years. It is fresh and along with a Borg-Warner 4-speed should be good for ET's around 12:30 at 112mph.
Please understand the following before calling. I will not sell this car to someone who plans to butcher it into another Billet laden, air conditioned, Lincoln Town car with a 55 Chevy body. Do not expect to see a flawless body, yes it has nicks and scratches but is really solid for a body that is over 50 years old. All of the glass is intact and the windows do roll up and down. The only fiberglass part is the hood scoop, everything else is steel. Sure there's some bondo on it, show me one that dosen't that's this old and hasn't had a turnstile frame-up restoration. I've enjoyed owning this car but have two College age children and all four of my cars are up for sale. I will deliver this car anywhere in the Continental United States if you pay the purchase price of $18,750. I would sell it as a roller for $16,750 and will knock off $1000 if you pick it up here in Dyer Indiana which is about thirty miles south of the city limits of Chicago Illinois on the Illinois-Indiana border.
